The Krogan are a species of large reptilian bipeds native to Tuchanka, a world known for its harsh environment, scarce resources and over-abundance of vicious predators. Once hailed as the saviors of the galaxy for their successful destruction of a dangerously xenophobic and powerful spacefaring insectoid race known as the Rachni, the Krogan are now a shadow of their former prominence. Flush with confidence following their defeat of the Rachni and the recognition of the Citadel races and their subsequent leniency towards the Krogans' obvious ambition for an empire of their own, the Krogan began colonizing worlds at a dangerous rate, eventually forcibly colonizing inhabited worlds and encroaching upon Citadel territories. Unwilling to curtail their activities and relinquish those worlds and territories belonging to other races, the Krogan rebelled against the Citadel council.

Tyranids are a fictional race from the Warhammer 40000 tabletop game and its spin-off media.

Tyranids are a nomadic alien race comprising many genetically engineered forms (see Tyranid genetics) created from harvested bio-mass. They are the "Great Devourer" and are the "most alien race" in the Imperium. They are an "elemental force" that seeks to consume all in their path, draining all planets of any possible resource with horrific speed and power.

Furons Coming from the planet Furon in the Proxima Centauri system, the Furons are aliens that have a similar appearance to Greys, aside from having mouths full of sharp teeth. Furons are named after diseases (such as Cryptosporidium), and are a highly advanced race who use their technology for science and war. Unregulated atomic weaponry caused a fatal mutation in the Furon race whereby they could no longer procreate due to their lack of genitalia. Using their advanced biotechnology, they began cloning themselves, rendering each Furon virtually immortal, memories and personality somehow being transferred to each new clone. However, with each new clone errors appeared in the genetic material, leading to unpredictable results. Without an infusion of uncorrupted Furon DNA, they will clone themselves into extinction.

In Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, the Dahaka serves as the physical manifestation of the inevitability of fate. The beast is the guardian of the timeline, and seems to appear only when the timeline is disrupted. In The Sands of Time, the Prince uses the Sands of Time literally to manipulate the timeline (cheating death, stopping time, etc.), culminating in him rewinding time to before he stole the dagger. Since the Prince was destined to die upon unleashing the sands, a fate which he has avoided thanks to the memories he retains from the alternate timeline, he creates a paradox. This brings the wrath of the Dahaka upon him, its duty to kill the Prince in order to restore the timeline and another reason being that the Prince is the only one who seems to know the secrets of time.

Vampires are mythological or folkloric revenants who subsist by feeding on the blood of the living. In folkloric tales, the undead vampires often visited loved ones and caused mischief or deaths in the neighbourhoods they inhabited when they were alive. They wore shrouds and were often described as bloated and of ruddy or dark countenance, markedly different from today's gaunt, pale vampire which dates from the early Nineteenth Century. Although vampiric entities have been recorded in most cultures, the term vampire was not popularised until the early 18th century, after an influx of vampire superstition into Western Europe from areas where vampire legends were frequent, such as the Balkans and Eastern Europe, although local variants were also known by different names, such as vampir in Serbia, vrykolakas in Greece and strigoi in Romania. This increased level of vampire superstition in Europe led to mass hysteria and in some cases resulted in corpses actually being staked and people being accused of vampirism.

In Greek mythology, the Minotaur (Greek: Μῑνώταυρος, Mīnṓtauros) was a creature that was part man and part bull. It dwelt at the center of the Labyrinth, which was an elaborate maze-like construction built for King Minos of Crete and designed by the architect Daedalus and his son Icarus who were ordered to build it to hold the Minotaur. The historical site of Knossos, with over 1300 maze like compartments is identified as the site of the labyrinth. The Minotaur was eventually killed by Theseus, the son of Aegeas.The term Minotaur derives from the Greek: Μῑνώταυρος (Mīnṓtauros), Etymologically it is a compound of the name Μίνως (Minos) and the noun ταύρος (tauros) "bull", thus it translated as "Bull of Minos". The bull was known in Crete as Asterion, a name shared with Minos's foster-father.

In Greek mythology, Medusa (Greek: Μέδουσα (Médousa), "guardian, protectress") was a gorgon, a chthonic female monster; gazing upon her would turn onlookers to stone. She was beheaded by the hero Perseus, who thereafter used her head as a weapon until giving it to the goddess Athena to place on her shield. In classical antiquity and today, the image of the head of Medusa finds expression in the evil-averting device known as the Gorgoneion. She also has two gorgon sisters.

In Greek mythology, the Chimera (Greek Χίμαιρα (Chímaira); Latin Chimaera) was a monstrous fire-breathing creature of Lycia in Asia Minor, composed of the parts of multiple animals: upon the body of a lioness with a tail that terminated in a snake's head, the head of a goat arose on her back at the center of her spine. The Chimera was one of the offspring of Typhon and Echidna and a sibling of such monsters as Cerberus and the Lernaean Hydra. The term chimera has also come to mean more generally, an impossible or foolish fantasy

Cerberus (Greek: Κέρβερος, Kérberos) in Greek and Roman mythology, is a multi-headed dog which guards the gates of Hades, to prevent those who have crossed the river Styx from ever escaping. Cerberus featured in many works of ancient Greek and Roman literature and in works of both ancient and modern art and architecture. As with most creatures from classical mythology, the depiction and background surrounding Cerberus often differed across various works by different authors of the era, the most notable difference being his number of heads; while most sources describe or depict three heads, others show him with two or even just one, a lesser number show a variable amount, sometimes as high as 50.
